How we support churches

The Timothy Project wish to create a support structure for churches as they grow. How we do this will depend on the situation. We do not operate with a fixed system and ask every group to conform. Therefore, our support will differ from one group to the next. Our support can include one or all of the following aspects:

Planting a new church
Coaching Leaders
Friendship
Training
Link persons
Mentoring
Planting a new church

A group of local believers dream about reaching out in their city and build a Christian community that is relevant for the non-churched. However, it is not easy to start something from scratch. Several members of our team has experience from doing this, and we love to come along side and share our experiences

Coaching Leaders

The goal of coaching is not about teaching a fixed concept, but to help the person being mentored understand what he or she wants to do. Through coaching, we help local leaders to express what God has put on their hearts. The coaching can be for individuals, but mostly we do it collectively for leadership teams. Some ask us for help in establishing a local leadership team.

Friendship

Planting a church can be a lonely experience. We believe God wants us to have true friendships. Therefore, we create spaces where church leaders and church planters can build friendships with other leaders in similar situations. Leaders also need someone who cares for them, and some find such care inside the Timothy Project. We call this “being shepherds for the shepherds”

Training

We do ad-hoc training days depending on need and our resources. This can be training in using the gifts of the Spirit, evangelism, or other topics. A program of more structured leadership training is in development.

Link persons

The Timothy Project works with the concept of a “link person” (link people), who are the main contact between churches and the Timothy Project team. They will regularly visit the church and talk to leaders/key people in the fellowship, and will know which resources are available within the wider network. Finding the right link person is important – and will take place in discussion between the local church and the team. We aim to have two link people for every church, but this will not always be possible.

Mentoring

Personal growth is an important factor both in our personal walk with Jesus and the growth  of our comunities. Therefor we invest in Leaders and keypeople through one-on-one mentoring.

Feel free to contact us to discuss what kind of support you need. Maybe we have something to offer that fits your situation.
